Understanding Barriers to Learning
This broader screening considers attention, memory, processing, literacy, social communication and emotional wellbeing. It can highlight possible barriers—including indicators associated with ADHD, ASC and dyslexia—and guide decisions about support or further assessment.

Dyslexia Diagnostic Assessments
A comprehensive assessment to establish whether a child or adult has dyslexia and understand their individual learning profile. It identifies strengths and areas of difficulty and includes a detailed written report with personalised recommendations for learning and support.
Dyslexia Screening
If you’re concerned about dyslexia but aren’t sure whether a full diagnostic assessment is needed, screening can be a useful first step. It looks for indicators associated with dyslexia and helps build a picture of strengths and difficulties. We can then discuss the findings and whether further assessment or support would be beneficial.
Specialist Tuition and Support
Individual tuition for learners who need extra help, whether or not they have a diagnosis. Support is tailored to the learner and can focus on literacy, confidence, closing gaps in learning and developing the skills needed to make progress. Tuition is available from primary level through to GCSE.
Study Skills & GCSE Support
Practical, individual support for secondary and GCSE students who find studying, organisation or independent learning difficult. Sessions can focus on revision techniques, planning and organisation, memory strategies, approaching assignments and developing effective study habits that work for the individual learner.
Access Arrangements
Assessment to help identify whether a student may require access arrangements for examinations, such as extra time or other appropriate support. Assessments explore the individual learner’s needs and provide evidence to help schools and colleges determine suitable arrangements in line with current requirements.
Meet Emily
I’m Emily, a qualified teacher, dyslexia specialist and educational assessor with over 15 years’ experience in education. I have taught children and young people across primary and secondary schools, working in mainstream, specialist and alternative education settings in both the UK and Hong Kong.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked with learners with a wide range of strengths and needs, including dyslexia, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and SEMH, as well as children and young people who are simply finding learning difficult and need the right support. My experience as both a teacher and an assessor helps me look beyond a single difficulty and understand the learner as a whole.
My approach is to understand each learner’s strengths, the areas they find challenging and the barriers that may be getting in the way. Whether through assessment, specialist tuition or practical support, my aim is to provide clear answers and realistic recommendations that help learners and families understand what’s going on and know what to do next.
